OUR MISSION:

The Japanese woodblock print has held the West under its spell for almost a century and a half. Since Commodore Perry returned to the United States bearing the riches of Japanese culture Western tastes and sensibilities have never been the same. Among the treasures that Perry brought back were ukiyo-e prints that would forever change the course of Western art. One by one the great painters of the day - Manet, Degas, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Cassatt and Whistler all succumbed to the seductive beauty of Japanese prints, collecting and assimilated their striking compositions, colors and styles into their own work. By the early 20th century, European connoisseurs of art amassed legendary collections and, later, American art lovers began assembling the portfolios that made the United States the world's leading center for the collection of Japanese art.

The inviting world of Japanese art at the Ronin Gallery encompasses the largest collection of 17th through 21st century Japanese prints for sale in the United States. Experience the magic of Japan by visiting our gallery located the center of New York, the art capital of the world, at 425 Madison Avenue (10th floor) on the S.E. corner of 49th street. Enjoy the serenity of our gallery, the unending beauty of our Japanese prints and the delights of our acclaimed netsuke collection. A knowledgeable and multi-lingual staff is available to answer all your questions regarding collecting and investing in Japanese art
