CURRENT JAPANESE ART EXHIBITION:
VIEWS OF FUJI by HIROSHIGE: Mount Fuji is the universal symbol of Japan and for the ukiyo-e artist it was an inspiration. Mt Fuji is a spiritual presence in many Hiroshige's woodblock print and we have selected 26 prints from our collection for this exhibition. The prints depict Mt Fuji in winter snow and summer sun, from the sea and from the land, during various seasons and annual events. They capture the daily life and customs of Edo. Their designs are daring and dramatic yet still evoke the lyrical beauty of the Japanese landscape.
