The Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a collection of deluxe Meiji period (1868-1912) woodblock reproductions by such artists as Sharaku, Utamaro, Choki and Eiri. Sumptuously printed on heavy handmade paper with rich iridescent mica backgrounds and careful gradation of colors each step in their creation was carried out by master craftsmen in the traditional fashion at the end of the 19th century.

Kazutoshi Sugiura (1938- ) has created his own very distinct and popular style in the art of silkscreen printing. All of his work realistically depict various flowers, in particular the iris. A world-renowned artist who started his artistic journey with the study of traditional Japanese style painting, he is famous for his bold and beautiful flowers set against a rich, gold-leaf background which has become the hallmark of his art. This is achieved through a complex process of silkscreen techniques. His designs have an immediate appeal and are timeless, elegant and serene.

Ronin Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition woodblock prints by Gashu Fukami. Gashu is a Kyoto artist who has studied in the United States at the Boston Arts Studio as well as in Tokyo and Kyoto where he has had multiple one man exhibitions. Gashu’s prints are an intriguing blend of contrasting shapes, colors and forms. Whimsical in concept, strong in design and bold in color they make the familiar look uncanny, and even the ordinary becomes mysterious.
