100 POETS by SHUNSHO (c. 1775)

rare collection of 36 prints from Shunsho’s acclaimed album The 100 Poets Brocaded in the Eastern Weave. Each print portrays a sensitive portrait of one of the 100 Poets surrounded by a verse which is elegantly written in the Shoren-in style of calligraphy. Shunsho (1726-1792) was one of the great ukiyo-e print masters, and known for both the strength and delicacy of his designs.
