SHUNGA: EROTIC PRINTS OF JAPAN


Shunga, or as literally translated ‘Spring Pictures’, are a genre of woodblock prints that depict the entire gamut of sensual and sexual pleasures. Over fifty prints dating from the 17th thru 20th century have been specially selected for this exhibition. Some of the artists represented are Moronobu, Koryusai, Utamaro, Hokusai, Eizan, Kunisada and Hiroshige. They are priced from $50 to $4500. (Please note that many of the pictures are sexually explicit.)

ABSTRACT DESIGNS in MODERN JAPANESE PRINTS.


This is a diverse collection of over 30 prints representing 18 different print artists of the 20th century. These prints enrich the experience of a space, transcend the boundaries time, and are universal in appeal. They explore both geometric and cosmic themes through the use of color and line.

THE CUSTOMS OF WOMEN by SHUNTEI


Ronin Gallery is pleased to present 28 prints from the series The Customs of Women. The series, which dates to 1897, depicts women and children at various leisure activities: boating on riverbanks, conversing on terraces, strolling through gardens, playing games, reading, writing, sewing and painting. Beautifully designed and delicately colored all of the prints are enhanced with silver, lacquer and embossing.
