PORTRAITS ALONG THE TOKAIDO by Toyokuni III

Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a collection of bust portrait prints from the series The 53 Stations of the Tokaido by Toyokuni III. The series dates to 1852 and portrays well known kabuki actors and famous people along the Tokaido Road. These prints are considered among the artist’s best series of bust portraits and are probably one of the most successful series ever published. The prints that we are offering are all early impressions, many embellished with black lacquer and embossing.

ANGKOR WAT — TEMPLE RELIEF PRINTS

ANGKOR WAT — TEMPLE RELIEF PRINTS

Angkor Wat, built in the 12th century by Khmer King Suryavarman II, is the world’s largest religious monument and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. These printings are made directly from centuries old bas-relief carvings that are currently closed to the public for conservation efforts. Printed with an attention to detail on hand-made rice papers, and using only natural vegetable dyes and gold they capture the essence of an ancient culture and people. Please take a moment to look through this special collection of the truly mystical images of an ancient wonder of the world; Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
