CLASSICS RECREATED

The Golden Age of Ukiyo-e (1790-1800) was renowned for its mica ground prints of beautiful courtesans and dramatic actors. The Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a collection of deluxe Meiji period (1868-1912) woodblock reproductions by such artists as Sharaku, Utamaro, Choki and Eiri. Sumptuously printed on heavy handmade paper with rich iridescent mica backgrounds and careful gradation of colors each step in their creation was carried out by master craftsmen in the traditional fashion at the end of the 19th century.
