    CURRENT JAPANESE ART EXHIBITION:

HEROES OF THE TAIHEIKI BY YOSHIIKU: Yoshiiku (1833-1904) was one of Kuniyoshi’s most talented students. He specialized in designs of fierce warriors reflecting his mentor’s bold style. In honor of his master’s death in 1861, Yoshiiku created the series Heroes of the Taiheiki. These prints are a powerful portrayal of famous warriors of the 14th and 15th century, one of the most tumultuous and violent periods in Japanese history. They are a dynamic symbol of the strength of the warrior class..
