RAKUZAN'S BIRDS AND FLOWERS
Ronin Gallery is pleased to present twenty-one rare first edition prints from Rakuzan’s Birds and Flowers series. These exquisitely executed large size woodblock prints were self published between 1929 and 1933. The series, which is comprised of 100 prints, illustrates various birds in their natural fauna. Each design is realistically and delicately rendered. Rakuzan (1886-1976) was a Kyoto artist. His birth name was Tsuchiya Kouzou. He originally apprenticed with the renowned painter and woodblock print artist Takeuchi Seiho. He is primarily known for his beautiful and refined nature studies.
