Etching by Tanaka RYOHEI. Ronin Gallery is pleased to present a selection of etchings by renowned contemporary print artist Tanaka Ryohei (1933 - ) His etchings are exceptionally intricate, subtlety textured and finely detailed. They portray traditional rural landscapes and intimate country scenes. He works primarily in etching, but also works with aquatint and mezzotint. He was born in Takatsuki City outside of Osaka in 1933. He began his career studying etching under Prof. Furuno in 1963 and one year later became a member of the Kyoto Etchers Group. In 1976 he began exhibiting with the Japan Print Association. Ryohei has won a numerous awards in Japan, Europe and America. His prints are widely collected and in the permanent collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, The Cleveland Museum and The Honolulu Academy of Art
