OSAKA PRINTS by YOSHITAKI: The Ronin Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of woodblock prints by Yoshitaki (1841-1899), a leading 19th century Osaka theatrical print artist. Osaka prints are known as kamigata-e or prints from the Osaka/Kamigata area of Japan that were produced from about 1820 to 1870. Osaka prints almost exclusively illustrated the Kabuki Theater and Actors. They are distinguished by the very high quality of printing techniques used as well as for the lacquers, embossing and metallic pigments such as gold, silver and copper that are applied. The brilliant colors, dramatic compositions and deluxe quality give Osaka prints a unique position in the world of Ukiyo-e.
